Today was one of those days. You know the kind. It isn’t a BAD day. It’s just a really really LOOOONG day.
It’s a bit rainy out. The baby didn’t sleep more than 45 minutes at a time all night. The kids seem to have gotten exactly enough sleep to be grouchy AND hyper.
I didn’t have any flavoring for my iced coffee. It took so long to drink it that all the ice melted and the coffee tasted weak and gross at the end. I couldn’t afford to sacrifice the caffeine, though, so I drank it anyway.
Today the kids were either fighting for real or for play. They were loud and crazy and none of the energy could be outside for long, because of the weather.
The baby tried to nap. She really did put in an honest effort, but everything kept waking her up. So much for teaching her to sleep through noise. She needs things to be pretty darn quiet.
The kids both made their own sandwiches! Neither of them cleaned up after themselves. One of them fussed that one sandwich with two slices of bread, two slices of ham, and one slice of cheese was “too much food”.
The TV has been on all day. Nobody has sat down to watch it, but as soon as I turn it off, a kid comes by, turns it on, watches for 30 seconds then leaves the room. The Baby has watched more PBS Kids today than either of The Bigs.
The kids “cleaned” the bathroom. This means they took wet, dirty washcloths and rubbed them all over every surface they could. They did NOT clean up the laundry, trash, etc in the bathroom. When I suggested they try that, they were suddenly uninterested in cleaning the bathroom.
In between trips in and out of the house, doors have been left open, shoes have been worn through the house, clothes have been stripped and left in various locations inside AND outside. All of this is seemingly my responsibility to take care of. I will NOT be taking care of most of it.
BUT. It’s Friday. We have pizza for dinner on Friday. Some days that’s what makes things better when we have one of those days.
