I didn’t choose the minivan life. The minivan life chose me. And you know what? I’m totally okay with that! Because my minivan is better than your SUV!
Many moms shun minivans. They look at the mom-mobiles and think they are not cool. They don’t want to be the “soccer mom” so they turn to SUVs and crossovers, or even just trying to cram their kids and stuff into a sedan! The Horror.
No, that’s not my style. I prefer the luxury of space over the luxury of pretending I’m cool. Because moms, I’m going to let you in on a secret, it doesn’t matter what you drive. When you let your herd of kids out of the car, everyone knows you’re a mom!
But I’m not here to hate. If you want to roll like that, more power to you.
But my minivan is better than your SUV Why?
Power sliding doors are perhaps one of the best inventions in vehicular history. When I’m juggling a baby and bags and keeping the kids from darting out into traffic, I can open the doors with my key fob and usher my kids into the vehicle without needing to put anything down.
Also, sliding doors means I can park in tighter spaces without worrying that my kids will ding the shot out of the car parked next to us when they get in and out! The baby just slides to the side and I only have to worry about my own door.
All The Space!
Not only is there storage space, but there is space for the kids to not be touching! Having three rows isn’t even optional now that I have three kids in safety seats, but having a row of seats with bucket seats and a whole other row is awesome.
Most of the time I have The Baby in one bucket seat in the middle row, one Big in the other bucket seat and the other Big in the back row. They are spread out, no poking each other or running out of elbow room
Belting Out Tunes.
Minivans are unassuming. People don’t look out for minivans or check them out when they pulled up next to you at a light. This means I can belt out the Disney princess tunes I love without any judgment. Because of tinted passenger windows, even if someone does see me rocking out, they won’t realize that I am doing it all on my own without any kids to blame it on.
Seriously, Minivans are my jam. They have space to carry a bunch of shit AND my family comfortably. They have the convenience I need to convince myself it’s not all that bad leaving the house with three kids and they make me just invisible enough to belt out my favorite tunes unjudged.
I’m on my second minivan and I’m telling you, there is not a day I regret getting it instead of an SUV or something “cooler”.
